Scientists have already proved the presence of medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil and that has been utilized in hospitals to treat Alzheimer, monogenic disorder, brain disorder and also to boost macromolecules, fat, and mineral absorption. Hence it’s a fact that coconut oil consists of saturated fat that raises the good cholesterol level within the body.

A review of epidemiologic studies shows that dietary coconut oil doesn't result in high blood cholesterol and heart diseases. The risk of heart diseases shot up only when some ancient societies replaced this coconut oil with refined vegetable oils.

In Ceylon, coconut and its oil is the chief source of fat for thousands of years. Until the 1980s, despite large amounts of coconut consumption, heart disease rate in that country was the lowest in the world i.e. only 1 out of every 10,000 was suffering from a heart condition. Over the past decade processed vegetable oils have replaced coconut oil, and as a result heart disease rates have also been going up.
